Saturday, May 15th, 2022—SANY Superintendent Dr. Tolga Hayali was honored and celebrated as one of United Way's 100 Heroes. Individuals who aligned with the mission of the United Way and were in healthcare, education, financial stability, volunteerism, advocacy, and leadership were selected.
Over the past six weeks, the United Way released its heroes and shared how each person has impacted the Mohawk Valley community. Dr. Hayali was one of the fifteen education and childcare heroes.
United Way presented each hero with a certificate of acknowledgment and appreciation for their part in the project and a small gift to celebrate each hero. The heroes and their guests met other honored individuals who have made a difference in the Mohawk Valley community.
Congratulations, Dr. Hayali; thank you for all you have done and continue to do to help serve and educate children in Syracuse and Utica. Your hard work, leadership, and tremendous efforts have not gone unnoticed. Thank you for helping make all the difference in the world. We are Many Atoms, One Family!

Wednesday, May 18th, 2022—The Science Academies of New York (SANY) is excited to announce both Syracuse Academy of Science Charter Schools and Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship Charter Schools have received their full five-year extension. Receiving a five-year extension from New York State and the Board of Regents is a tremendous accomplishment and no easy feat. To receive a five-year full-term renewal and/or expansion from New York State and the Board of Regents, charter schools must show a high standard for academic success and financial integrity. All SANY Charter Schools since 2003 have always received a full five-year term. We are glad to see this tradition continuing this year with SAS and Citizenship.

Friday, May 6th, 2022—Much like moms, muffins help make the world go round! Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school celebrated all the fabulous moms and maternal figures on a beautiful afternoon at its annual Muffins for Marvelous Women event. This time-honored event was the first time Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school has been able to host this event in over two years. We were excited to be able to bring this event back and enjoyed seeing all the families in attendance.
We hope everyone had a happy Mother's Day. Thank you, moms, for all you have done and continue to do in your Atoms' lives. Please click here to view additional pictures from Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school’s Muffins for Marvelous Women event.
Sunday, May 1st, 2022—In April, the artwork from Kindergarten to 4th-grade students at the Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school was displayed at the Beaver Lake Nature Center. In collaboration with the Region 3 of the New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA), students created artwork that fit the themes of nature, animals, and landscape.
On Sunday, May 1st, artists and their families celebrated this monumental achievement with a reception hosted by NYSATA Region 3. This 'Art Naturally Show' allowed families to celebrate their young artists' success and achievements and to view works of art from students throughout CNY.
Congratulations to all of our Atoms; we are proud of your accomplishments!
