Tuesday, November 15th, 2022: Third-grade student representatives enjoyed breakfast with Superintendent Dr. Hayali. Students and Dr. Hayali chatted about what they want to be when they grow up, what they would change in their school, and how to be a good team member and part of our community. Congratulations to these special students, and thank you to Dr. Hayali for spending the morning with them!
Wednesday, November 30th, 2022: Do you have a favorite family recipe? Maybe it's your grandma's gooey chocolate chip cookies or your mom's chicken noodle soup. 5th, 6th, and 7th graders are cooking up something exciting at Syracuse Academy of Science middle school! Atoms shared their family's favorite recipes and maybe even some secret recipes with our Student Council members, who created a book to share with everyone. Atoms can purchase Recipe Books for $5 (cash only). Students can buy them in homeroom or by seeing Ms. Chapman.
Wednesday, November 30th, 2022: Fourth Graders at Syracuse Academy of Science learned all about Central New York’s history during a field trip to the Onondaga Historical Association. Atoms received a guided tour of the museum and watched a sound and light show, all while learning about important historical events like Syracuse’s role in the underground railroad. The museum displayed important artifacts from history for the students to see. They even got to listen to music from a record player!
Thank you to the OHA for hosting us. It was a very informative trip for our students.
Friday, December 2nd, 2022: Citizenship & Science Academy of Syracuse is grieving a tragic loss. On Tuesday, November 22nd, Nezamiyah White unexpectedly passed away in a house fire. Nezamiyah was a sweet student who always had a smile on her face. Her smile was infectious and she radiated positivity wherever she went. Nezamiyah worked hard in school, earning many awards throughout her time at Citizenship. She was a great friend to all and a leader in her class. One of Nezamiyah's passions was gymnastics. At recess it was a guarantee Nezamiyah would be practicing her tumbling and cartwheels with her friends. She wanted to be a gymnastics coach when she grew up. Nezamiyah enjoyed reading and adored art.
We can’t begin to imagine the pain her family is experiencing with this tragic loss. Please join us for a spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit the family of Nezamiyah White on Saturday, December 17th at the Syracuse Academy of Science high school cafeteria. Stop by anytime from 5 to 9 pm for dine in or take out. Dinners are $10 each and all proceeds will go to Nezamiyah’s family.
You can also donate on this gofundme organized by Nezamiyah's family.
Thank you for coming together to help out as a community. We are many atoms, one family.
