#SASCS Participated in a Cornell University Lab at Onondaga Lake

On Tuesday, September 25, 2018, Ms. Liotta took a group of ninth-graders to two locations around Onondaga Lake to collect water samples. The water collection was for an invasive fish detection program through Cornell University. The collected samples were filtered and sent to Cornell to be tested for eDNA (environmental DNA). Once at Cornell the samples were analyzed through the process of quantitative PCR looking for traces of eDNA from invasive fish species in our local waterways. These hands-on experiences are just one of the ways we are preparing our #SASAtoms for their futures. We are building success one ATOM at a time.
