Building Airplanes with Syracuse University Scholars

On Thursday, January 17, 2019, Syracuse University students from the College of Engineering & Computer Science inspired sixth graders at the Syracuse Academy of Science Middle School. The students along with their professor explained how the subject matter our #SASAtoms are learning in Middle School applies to Engineering and then introduced an engineering activity for the students to complete.#SASAtoms were tasked to design and build a paper airplane. Teams were allowed preliminary research and then tasked to only use the materials available; paper, paperclips, tape and binder clips. Students and scholars built, tested, and refined their designs in the hopes of achieving the furthest flight.
