Friday, May 17, 2019—Girls Empowerment Night is a time honored middle school tradition which focuses on developing strong, independent, confident young ladies at Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School. The theme for 2019 was strong, independent women in fields that have been thought of as 'male dominated' professions. Atoms welcomed four guest speakers to sit on a panel and discuss how strength, encouragement, determination and value are key components in being a successful female in any career. Guest speakers included: Spectrum News Meteorologist Vanessa Richards, United States Air Force Takeya Williams, CPS and Government Case worker Heather Douglass, and School Resource Officer and Detective Tina Black. Following the discussion Atoms enjoyed an evening of jewelry making, dance battles, open gym and a movie room.
