100 Black Men Lesson for Black History Month

Jerome Walker from 100 Black Men Speaks with Syracuse Academy of Science Students

Friday, February 28, 2020—Scholars from 8th and 9th grade attended a presentation by Jerome Walker from 100 Black Men Of America, Inc.. His presentation uncovered truths regarding Black History Month and why it's celebrated in the month of February. During the 90-minute presentation, students analyzed historical documents to learn about the origins of slavery in the United States, and they identified important contributions many Africans have made over the years. Students were encouraged to dive deep into their culture, talk with their families about it, and research the subject further to continue uncovering more truths. #BlackHistoryMonth
