Sunday, April 7th, 2024: We're thrilled to share the stellar achievements of our Syracuse Academy of Science High School students at the CNY Science and Engineering Fair hosted at the MOST!  Joined by our dedicated educators, Mrs. Coe, Mr. Maurer, and Dr. Ay, our young scientists showcased their brilliance.

Huge shoutout to Jason Eze and Wajih Hassan for securing the Grand prize and representing New York State at the prestigious Energy Conference on April 12th! Mr. Maurer was honored with the Peter Plumbly Engaged Participation Award, a testament to his unwavering support and mentorship.

Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary School Atoms Adventure Club Explores Baltimore Woods

 Saturday, April 6th, 2024: Fearless explorers from Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary tackled Baltimore Woods on Saturday, April 6th! The hike was a tad more challenging than their previous adventures, but that added to the thrill!

Atoms had a blast soaking in the sights and even made new amphibian friends—a live tree frog and turtle stole the show at the Nature Center! 

The club can’t wait for their next escapade as they nurture that special bond with nature and stay zen. Bring on the fun and adventure!

Tuesday, March 19th, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science High School is a college prep school. Our mission is to graduate college-ready and civic-minded students, emphasizing high-quality instruction and a curriculum that has been developed to allow every student to attend college. As part of our comprehensive College Prep program, a group of eager High School juniors attended the highly anticipated National Association for College Counseling (NACAC) college fair. This invaluable opportunity allowed our ambitious scholars to engage directly with representatives from various colleges across the United States! Amidst the vibrant atmosphere of the fair, our students jumped on the chance to glean insights, ask questions, and forge connections that will shape their collegiate journey.

Sunday, April 7th, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary School Science Fair Winners had the fantastic opportunity to showcase their projects in the CNY Science & Engineering Fair hosted at the Most. Scholars saw projects from students of all ages across Central New York and presented their own projects to the judges. 

We are very proud of how hard they worked to prepare and how well they represented our school at the fair! Congratulations to Isaiah, Ti’jadin, Daniel, and Jayce for participating! Congratulations to Angelina and Everly for receiving honors! Congratulations, Atoms! Keep up the excellent work!

Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary Participates in NYSATA Art Exhibition

Sunday, March 24th, 2024: Each Year, Region 3 of the New York State Art Teachers Association sponsors an exhibit at the Beaver Lake Nature Center. The exhibit is titled "Student Art-Naturally." Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary School's Art Teacher, Ms. Alonso-Bergevin, is the exhibit's coordinator!

This year, artwork from eight SAS Elementary students was featured. On Sunday, March 24th, there was an Artists' Reception, and students received a certificate to honor their participation.

Everly Shines: SAS Elementary's Spelling Bee Star!

Syracuse Academy of Science 4th Grader Everly Advances to Regional Spelling Bee

Saturday, March 23rd, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary's Everly showcased her incredible spelling talents at the Regional Spelling Bee! Remember when Everly finished 3rd place at our school spelling bee? She continued to shine, progressing through the online rounds and earning her spot in the Final Regional Bee hosted by the Post-Standard/Syracuse.com!

This is an outstanding achievement, considering Everly was the lone 4th grader to advance to this level! Though she faced tough competition, Everly's remarkable journey saw her through to the 2nd round, ultimately securing an impressive 17th place in the county!

Congratulations, Everly! Your school family couldn't be prouder of your dedication and accomplishments! ‘

Outstanding Achievement: SAS ES Celebrates 4th Graders' Success on NYS ELA and Math Tests

Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary & Terra Science Honor 4th Graders' Remarkable Achievements

Friday, March 22nd, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary School celebrated 4th graders for their efforts on last year's NYS ELA and Math tests. Terra Science and Education provided gift cards for students who achieved 3's and/or 4's on their tests.

This year, we passed out the most awards ever, with 33 students being recognized! Four of those scholars received a four on BOTH tests!

School Dean Mrs. Miller also has an important message for all Atoms: Even if they didn't get an award this year, and even if they don't get one next year, as long as every student tries their best, we are always going to be so proud of them.

Great job, students!

SAS ES Hosts Inspiring Guest Speakers for International Women's Day

Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary Empowers Young Minds on International Women's Day

Friday, March 8th, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary School invited two guest speakers for International Women's Day. Marlena Jackson of the Syracuse Police Department spoke with third graders about her role as a police officer in the community. Sharon Alestalo from Syracuse University's Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Program spoke with fourth graders about the importance of STEM education and working in the field as a woman.

We are so grateful to have such fantastic role models in our community.

Exploring Higher Education: SAS HS Atoms Embark on College Visit

Syracuse Academy of Science High School Students Experience Life at SUNY Geneseo

Monday, February 26th, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science High School scholars were on the road again for another college visit! This time, they visited SUNY Geneseo and learned all about the programs offered and campus life. The best way to know if a school is a good fit is to go and visit, and these Atoms are taking advantage of all the opportunities to do just that.

Syracuse Academy of Science STEAM Club Attends a Future Women in STEM Presentation at the MOST

Saturday, March 9th, 2024: The Syracuse Academy of Science Middle School STEAM Club is building future frontiers and women in STEM. The club went to the Museum of Science and Technology for a presentation from the Future Women in STEM event. The girls learned about how they are using drones in the medical field. Unfortunately, they could not fly the drones outside due to the weather, but students saw a video of them delivering medical supplies to the hospital instead!
