Thursday, May 21, 2020—With horns blaring, pom poms waving, and lawn signs in-hand the #SASCS staff drove through Syracuse to surprise and congratulate our graduating Seniors. To all of our Seniors, we miss you, we miss you, we miss you. Thank you for being so patient and kind during this time. Wishing the Class of 2020 success and joy in the future. College Guidance Workshop Series

Tuesday, May 19, 2020—How can you continue to prepare for college and career readiness amidst the pandemic? Who can you talk to? How can seniors prepare for college in the fall? Parents and students, if you are interested in answers to these questions—look no further! The #SASCS & #UASCS Guidance Departments are teaming up to host two College Guidance Workshop Series over the course of five meetings. Topics will focus on college & career readiness, the transition to college, and more.

May 19 at 5:30 p.m. — COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS -1, Primarily for 7th through 11th Graders and & Parents, Topic: Academics

May 20 at 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m —  TRANSITION TO COLLEGES -1, Primarily for Seniors and their parents, Topics: Enrollment Process, Financial Aid Package, What to do between May through September

May 21 at 5:30 p.m. — COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS -2, Primarily for 7th through 11th Graders and & Parents, Topic: Extracurricular Activities

May 26 at 5:30 p.m — APPLICATION PROCESS, Primarily for 10th & 11th Graders and Parents, Topic: Whole Application Process

May 27 at 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m — TRANSITION TO COLLEGES -2, Primarily for Seniors and their parents, Topics: Important Resources, What to do when things fall through the cracks

May 28 at 5:30 p.m — FINANCIAL AID, Primarily for 10th & 11th Graders and Parents, Topic: Financial Aid Workshop

ASL Language & Culture Fair

Monday, May 18, 2020—When the pandemic halted everything in the American Sign Language (ASL) interactive classroom, #SASAtoms found a way to share the love of ASL remotely. ASL is a visual 3-D language with a rich cultural background along with facial expressions, body language/movement, and gestures. In this video, Mr. Nimmo and his ASL students incorporate the passion of ASL that needs to be shared with the Deaf and Hearing community with positivity and self-learning. Live Poetry Reading

Friday, May 8, 2020—Earlier this month, Christine Kitano, an assistant professor at @ithacacollege gave our #SASAtoms a special virtual visit. Ms. Kitano teaches courses in poetry and Asian American Literature. She is also an author and has written two poetry books of her own. Thursday, April 30, 2020—Congratulations to all our #SASCS Elementary Student of the Month Atoms! Last month’s character trait was Perseverance! ? Staying Safe in the Kitchen

Monday, April 20, 2020—Syracuse City Fire Department Lieutenant Dan Conners gave a virtual visit to our students. With everyone home during this time, we were lucky enough to have our friends at the fire department give a cooking lesson to us! Students learned safety tips and how to properly cook in your home. We were shown the importance of fire safety in the kitchen. Thank you, Mr. Conners!
