Gobble, Gobble it’s Almost Thanksgiving Recess!

Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school teachers participated in a ‘Turkey Hunt’ activity where they found 12 turkey bags throughout the building with its matching goody bag.

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021Time with the Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school Atoms, is time well spent! As students, teachers, faculty and staff gear up for Thanksgiving Recess, we couldn’t help but notice that the halls looked a bit different this morning, thanks to Dean of Elementary, Mrs. Miller. Earlier this morning, Mrs. Miller decked the halls with 12 ‘free-range’ turkeys and goody bags for the teachers to find. This impressive turkey hunt was a great way to kick-off the upcoming Thanksgiving Recess.

One cannot simply talk turkey without mentioning the creative class project and activity from the 2nd grade Atoms in Ms. Fogarty and Ms. Cahalan’s class. On the eve of Thanksgiving Recess, the students shared what they were thankful for this holiday season. In addition, both Ms. Fogarty and Ms. Cahalan also took a moment to share with the Atoms a little activity they were working on, ' 27 Reasons to be Thankful.' Both teachers took the time to recognize and write down on a feather each student's talent and characteristic. The feathers were presented to the Atoms, who could add them to their turkey.

It’s safe to say that the Atoms have the tur-’KEY’ to our hearts! These small moments are big memories that will last forever! We hope all of our Atoms have a very wonderful, happy, and healthy Thanksgiving recess.

Thursday, November 18th, 2021Early this morning, there was a beautiful rainbow that graced the sky over Syracuse, New York. This past week, the weather has been gloomy and rainy and it was a beacon of hope and joy seeing a rainbow fill the morning sky.
