Black History Month

Syracuse Academy of Science high school will be celebrating Black History Month with a variety of virtual activities for its students to participate in during the month of February.

Monday, February 1st, 2021Syracuse Academy of Science high school will be celebrating Black History Month during the month of February. Students will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities. Activities include but are not limited to a book club, a virtual guest speaker and a media celebration.

If students elect to participate in a media celebration, they will have an opportunity to create their own video, artwork or written essay on topics which include but are not limited to sharing a family story or tradition, who is someone that has inspired them and who is someone you’ve learned about this month. Media celebration projects are due on February 12th. Prizes will be awarded.

SAS Elementary Recognized as School of Character

Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school received the 2021 School of Character Honorable Mention award for its quality character education programs.

Tuesday, January 26th, 2021In December 2020, Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school submitted an application to be recognized as a School of Character. We are pleased to announce due to all the hard work, tenacity, positive can-do attitude of its teachers, faculty and staff, Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school was recognized for its quality character education programs and received the 2021 School of Character Honorable Mention! Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school was selected out of 158 applicants. Congratulations, Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school teachers, faculty, staff and students we are so proud of all of you!

National School Choice Week

MLK Day - No School

There will be no school on Monday, January 18th in observance of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 19th.

Monday, January 18th, 2021On Monday, January 18th, Syracuse Academy of Science schools will be celebrating the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He believed in the equality, freedom and dignity for all people.

In observance of this holiday, there will be no school on Monday, January 18th. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 19th. Enjoy this long weekend, Atoms!

New Year's Day

In observance of  New Year's Day, there will be no school on Friday, January 1st, 2021. Classes will resume on Monday, January 4th, 2021.

Virtual College Event

 

Syracuse Academy of Science High School and Keuka College will be hosting a Virtual Instant Admit Day from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, on Wednesday, January 13th. Wednesday, January 13th, 2021Attention Syracuse Academy of Science high school seniors, have you thought about where you will be attending college next year? Have you ever considered joining the Keuka College 'wolfpack?’ If you answered yes, this upcoming virtual college event on Wednesday, January 13th  might be for you!

Keuka College will be hosting a Virtual Instant Admit Day from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, on Wednesday, January 13th. On Instant Admit Day, students will have a personal meeting with the Keuka College admission team where they will review your transcripts. During this meeting students will also find out if they are tentatively accepted! Don't hesitate, contact Ms. Wheeler from the Guidance Office to schedule your individual meeting today, and to have your transcripts sent to Keuka College.

Season's Greetings from The Science Academies of New York

Hello SANY families,

As we get ready to celebrate the holiday season with family and loved ones that are near and dear to us, I wanted to take a brief moment to reflect on all that has happened this past year. A year that none of us will forget, but more importantly how we all united together and were able to conquer herculean obstacles that were presented each day. To say that I am proud of our students, teachers, faculty and staff is an understatement. This year reminds me greatly that we are many Atoms, one family.

Indeed, 2020 will be a year for the history books: the global pandemic, its impact on our daily lives, the educational structure, tragic loss of life, and sacrifices made by so many of our front-line heroes. Much will be written about this time period in our lives, but for me and for SANY, here is what I will remember.

Earlier this year somehow, some way, you all found a way to rise to the occasion and rally through these difficult times. From adapting, overcoming and evolving to a new style of learning and educational system, to working tirelessly in the face of great unknown to persevering through periods of tremendous uncertainty. You did all of this with great success not only in your professional lives but your personal lives, as well.

Despite the many challenges this year faced, there were glimmers of hope that shined through the darkness. Earlier this month vaccines arrived and are being administered to those who needed it the most in New York state. Many of our front-line heroes throughout the country are receiving the first round of the vaccine, with promise that others will be able to receive the vaccine soon.

Earlier this month, SANY announced the approval of Citizenship and Science Academy of Rochester, with a projected opening in September 2021. It is with all of your valiant hard work, dedication and commitment that we are able to bring our successful model of STEM education to the citizens of Rochester, New York.

Someday, when we look back at this period and reflect upon how we lived through these challenging times, I will always be reminded that it was because each and every one of our Atoms, their families, teachers, faculty and staff. Many Atoms, one family. We wish you a very happy holiday!

Winter Recess

Syracuse Academy of Science will have a half day on December 23rd for grades K-4 only and no school from December 24th - January 1st for Winter Recess

Buildings are closed, remote learning continues on December 17, 2020

Dear Syracuse Academy parents and guardians, due to inclement weather conditions, Syracuse Academy buildings are closed on Thursday, December 17th, 2020. Students are expected to attend classes remotely. Stay safe SAS Atoms.

Weather Reminder

Important Reminder for Families:

For the 2020-21 school year, should the Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School close for snow days or due to inclement weather, those days will be REMOTE learning days for all students. No in person learning will occur, but students will be expected to attend classes virtually. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school directly!

SASCS Alumna Competes Tonight on the Food Network

Syracuse Academy of Science alumna and proud owner of Crave Dessert Studio, Tykemia Carman competes in tonight’s (12/14/20) Food Network’s Christmas Cookie Challenge.

Monday, December 14th, 2020We are excited to share that one of Syracuse Academy of Science alumna, Tykemia Carman, owner of Crave Dessert Studio, will be competing tonight on the Food Network’s Christmas Cookie Challenge. Tune in this evening at 10:00 PM as she will go head-to-head against five other talented cookie makers for a chance to win $10,000.
