Class of 2021 Graduation Ceremony

Class of 2021 at Syracuse Academy of Science receive their High School Diploma on June 24th, 2021.

Thursday, June 24th, 2021—As Syracuse Academy of Science high school seniors prepared for this momentous occasion in their academic career, this moment and time will most certainly go down in history for more than one reason. Not only did these 'Pandemic Academics' exceed expectations, but throughout this year, they overcame herculean obstacles that life presented.

This 15th Annual Commencement Ceremony was one that much like this past year, students, families, teachers and staff will remember for always. This year, the ceremony was held outdoors at the New York State Fairgrounds' Expo Center where families and friends could celebrate their loved ones with a drive-in style ceremony.

On June 24th, 2021, one of the hottest days on record in Central New York, Syracuse Academy of Science Seniors put on their graduation caps, gowns, tassels and stoles as they prepared for their final walk as an Atom.

During their commencement ceremony, Syracuse Academy of Science welcomed keynote speaker, Rasheda Caldwell who addressed the students and shared the importance of an education. In addition to these speakers, Syracuse Academy of Science welcomed, SANY Superintendent, Dr. Tolga Hayali, and President of Terra Science and Education, Dr. Fehmi Damkaci who presented students with a Terra Foundation Scholarship.

Students also heard from their class Valedictorian, Huda Ali and Salutatorian Umesh Dahal who shared their memories as an Atom, hopes and dreams of the future and much more. Congratulations Huda and Umesh on being this year's Syracuse Academy of Science high school's Valedictorian and Salutatorian!

Concluding the presentation of the diplomas and awards, Jacob Toledo, a member of the Class of 2021, led his fellow students in the moment many were waiting for ... the infamous tassel transfer.

We would like to give a quick shout out to those who received the Terra Foundation Scholarship recipients: Huda Ali, Umesh Dahal, Ron’Nal Glover, Daniel Pontello, Sarhia Rahim, Karl Russo, Yhadia Wilson.

Congratulations to Huda Ali, Umesh Dahal, and Karl Russo on receiving the New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
