Congressional Award Students Visit Philadelphia, PA
Saturday, January 14th, 2023: Over the weekend, congressional awards students visited Philadelphia, PA, our first capital city! The group was blessed with excellent weather, and our students had a chance to learn more about their country's history by visiting the Independence National Historical Park, the Liberty Bell, and the President's House Site! Most of our students didn't know that Philadelphia served as our nation's capital until 1800, when the federal government moved to its permanent home in Washington, DC. After visiting Independence Park, they walked around Downtown Philadelphia, visited China Town and had lunch at Philadelphia Reading Terminal Market, where they had a chance to choose from a variety of food vendors! Finally, atoms visited the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where the popular stairs from the movie "Rocky" are.
Overall, it was a beautiful, educational, and enjoyable trip for everyone!
