Scoring Goals On and Off the Soccer Field
Friday, September 11, 2020—Syracuse Academy of Science is excited to announce its first-ever boys high school soccer team. We welcome head co-head coaches Abu and Lossine Bility. Coaches bring with them years of experience, talent and an incredible true story of overcoming obstacles, perseverance and living out their dream.
“Life is what you make it,” words the twin Bility brothers live by. Before becoming a teacher at Syracuse Academy of Science, the brothers fled civil wars in both Liberia and Ivory Coast. Graduates of SUNY Brockport, they are reaching their dreams by starting the first-ever soccer team, while helping the students reach theirs both on and off the field. Starting a soccer team during a pandemic is no easy feat, but nothing they can’t handle. As of right now, all games will be played on the road, and the team is awaiting further guidance from New York State on the start date of high school soccer across Central New York. At Syracuse Academy of Science we are committed to the health and safety of all of our students and athletes, and will continue to follow the guidance for health and safety from New York State.
