Taking a Stand Against Bullying
On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, to promote a positive learning environment in which all students feel welcome and safe, Syracuse Academy of Science continuously takes a proactive approach against bullying. One example is a school-wide anti-bullying event that recently took place at the Middle School, where students participated in a range of engaging activities, including a photobooth with props, a team-building hula-hoop challenge, a blindfolded “egg and spoon” obstacle course, and a fun game of blob tag. Students also competed in an Anti-Bullying art-poster contest as well as an Anti-Bullying essay contest. Making a surprise guest appearance, Leroy Collins, a former NFL player for the Washington Redskins and Jacksonville Jaguars, gave a powerful motivational speech that encouraged students to speak up--and stand up--against bullying.
