Falling for All Kinds of Apples
Second graders at SAS Elementary School enjoyed a scenic fall day at Beak & Skiff Apple Orchard in nearby LaFayette. The outdoor fun-filled day included apple picking, wagon rides and, of course, sampling apple cider and donuts. Beak & Skiff, one of the largest operations growing apples in New York State, recently was named the nation's best apple orchard by USA Today. On their visit, students got to pick Empire, Macoun and Fuji apples, and they enjoyed lunch outdoors at picnic tables and an afternoon on the playground.
