Wednesday, May 11th, 2022—It's time to 'strike up the band' with Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school's first-grade students in Ms. Dickinson's class. As part of their monthly family project, students and their families put their creativity to the test when making homemade musical instruments that represented cultures celebrated in their family. To construct their musical instruments, Atoms and their families could use any items found around their homes. Some of these instruments created include guitars, maracas, and harps! Rock on, Atoms, and keep up the great work!

Saturday, May 15th, 2022—SANY Superintendent Dr. Tolga Hayali was honored and celebrated as one of United Way's 100 Heroes. Individuals who aligned with the mission of the United Way and were in healthcare, education, financial stability, volunteerism, advocacy, and leadership were selected.
Over the past six weeks, the United Way released its heroes and shared how each person has impacted the Mohawk Valley community. Dr. Hayali was one of the fifteen education and childcare heroes.
United Way presented each hero with a certificate of acknowledgment and appreciation for their part in the project and a small gift to celebrate each hero. The heroes and their guests met other honored individuals who have made a difference in the Mohawk Valley community.

Wednesday, May 18th, 2022—The Science Academies of New York (SANY) is excited to announce both Syracuse Academy of Science Charter Schools and Syracuse Academy of Science and Citizenship Charter Schools have received their full five-year extension. Receiving a five-year extension from New York State and the Board of Regents is a tremendous accomplishment and no easy feat. To receive a five-year full-term renewal and/or expansion from New York State and the Board of Regents, charter schools must show a high standard for academic success and financial integrity. All SANY Charter Schools since 2003 have always received a full five-year term. We are glad to see this tradition continuing this year with SAS and Citizenship.
