Friday, March 22nd, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary School celebrated 4th graders for their efforts on last year's NYS ELA and Math tests. Terra Science and Education provided gift cards for students who achieved 3's and/or 4's on their tests.
This year, we passed out the most awards ever, with 33 students being recognized! Four of those scholars received a four on BOTH tests!
School Dean Mrs. Miller also has an important message for all Atoms: Even if they didn't get an award this year, and even if they don't get one next year, as long as every student tries their best, we are always going to be so proud of them.
Great job, students!
Friday, March 8th, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary School invited two guest speakers for International Women's Day. Marlena Jackson of the Syracuse Police Department spoke with third graders about her role as a police officer in the community. Sharon Alestalo from Syracuse University's Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Program spoke with fourth graders about the importance of STEM education and working in the field as a woman.
We are so grateful to have such fantastic role models in our community.
Saturday, March 9th, 2024: The Syracuse Academy of Science Middle School STEAM Club is building future frontiers and women in STEM. The club went to the Museum of Science and Technology for a presentation from the Future Women in STEM event. The girls learned about how they are using drones in the medical field. Unfortunately, they could not fly the drones outside due to the weather, but students saw a video of them delivering medical supplies to the hospital instead!
Monday, February 26th, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science High School scholars were on the road again for another college visit! This time, they visited SUNY Geneseo and learned all about the programs offered and campus life. The best way to know if a school is a good fit is to go and visit, and these Atoms are taking advantage of all the opportunities to do just that.
Tuesday, March 5th, 2024: Crazy, silly, frumpy, or frilly: Day 2 of Read Across America Week at Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary was Hat Day! Atoms and staff wore their favorite hats to school to celebrate their love of reading and Dr. Seuss's birthday.
