Thursday, March 21st, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science second graders recently welcomed two women from SKS Orthodontics. SKS Orthodontics is an orthodontist office in North Syracuse. They spoke with our Atoms about caring for our teeth. They used a giant mouth display to show how to care for our teeth properly.
2nd-graders enjoyed the presentation and learned some helpful ways to care for their oral health! We were excited to be able to display another example of extraordinary women from the community.
Friday, April 12th, 2024: Ninth and tenth-grade Syracuse Academy of Science Atoms busted out their snazziest attire, cranked up the tunes, and threw down for the gala on Friday, April 12th! It was a night packed with laughter, good vibes, and unforgettable memories.
Wednesday, April 17th, 2024: Ms. Tammy from Chartwells stopped by Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary School for a Nutrition Education lesson with Kindergarten! This was extra exciting for our Atoms as it was their first experience in the cafeteria! Ms. Tammy whipped up some tasty strawberry banana smoothies, and the students each got to sample one. One Kindergartener said it tasted like "fireworks in a cup!"
Thanks to Ms. Tammy and Chartwells for taking the time to treat our students and teach them about healthy living!
Saturday, April 13th, 2024: The Syracuse Academy of Science Middle School Steam Club happily spent another Saturday at the Museum of Science & Technology for the Future Women in STEM event. This month, the girls built their own magazine/folder holder with the help of Merit Alliance.
Excellent job, Atoms!
Friday, April 19th, 2024: The incredible 6th-grade students at Syracuse Academy of Science embarked on a mission to positively impact our planet in honor of Earth Day! Armed with shovels, smiles, and enthusiasm, they rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty to plant five trees on the school campus thanks to a grant from the Central New York Community Foundation and CCE Onondaga's help.
With each dig into the ground, Atoms showed that they're not just learning about environmental stewardship—they're living it. They understand that small actions can make a big difference, and they're proving it by taking tangible steps to protect our planet for future generations.
As they worked together, 6th-grade scholars learned about trees' vital role in combating climate change, purifying the air we breathe, and providing habitat for countless wildlife species.
Through this hands-on experience, our students are planting trees and seeds of awareness, responsibility, and compassion. They demonstrate their commitment to being active stewards of the environment and shaping a brighter, greener future.
Happy Earth Day from Syracuse Academy of Science, where every day is an opportunity to nurture our planet and inspire positive change!
