Growing Together: SAS 6th Graders Plant Trees for Earth Day
Friday, April 19th, 2024: The incredible 6th-grade students at Syracuse Academy of Science embarked on a mission to positively impact our planet in honor of Earth Day! Armed with shovels, smiles, and enthusiasm, they rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty to plant five trees on the school campus thanks to a grant from the Central New York Community Foundation and CCE Onondaga's help.
With each dig into the ground, Atoms showed that they're not just learning about environmental stewardship—they're living it. They understand that small actions can make a big difference, and they're proving it by taking tangible steps to protect our planet for future generations.
As they worked together, 6th-grade scholars learned about trees' vital role in combating climate change, purifying the air we breathe, and providing habitat for countless wildlife species.
Through this hands-on experience, our students are planting trees and seeds of awareness, responsibility, and compassion. They demonstrate their commitment to being active stewards of the environment and shaping a brighter, greener future.
Happy Earth Day from Syracuse Academy of Science, where every day is an opportunity to nurture our planet and inspire positive change!
