Friday, May 27th, 2022—One of the many benefits of working with SANY is allowing teachers, faculty, and staff to pursue and help them with their education dreams.
As we dedicate this ‘Flashback Friday’ to our Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school teachers and Dean of Elementary, we want to thank them for all their hard work throughout the year. This year, Mrs. Miller, Ms. Fogarty, and Ms. Crouse completed their Master's Degrees at Mercy College.
Please join us in congratulating our teachers and the Dean of Elementary! We are all so proud of you and all that you accomplished.
Tuesday, June 21st, 2022—As the 2021 - 2022 school year came to a close, Syracuse Academy of Science middle school hosted one last event for the year, the end-of-year Academic Fair! This year's fair allowed the Atoms to showcase all their hard work, talent, and creativity. Students in each class were asked to create a poster board and present on a specific topic.
Mrs. Swidowski's science class students displayed science fair boards and Google slide research projects on various topics. Some of these topics included how to make a homemade lava lamp, water absorption, tooth decay from fluids we drink, and much more.
Miss Catanzarite's social studies class created information boards on world religions. Some of these religions included Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism.
In addition to these incredible informational projects, the Academic Fair proudly displayed artwork from the students. Please click here to visit our Facebook page to view additional pictures from the Syracuse Academy of Science middle school’s end-of-year Academic Fair.
Monday, June 13th, 2022—We all know moving to a new place can be very challenging and sparks many questions, especially when transitioning from elementary to middle school. To help ease the burden and anxiety, Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school students had an opportunity to visit and tour the middle school prior to their Moving Up ceremony.
During their trip, Atoms spent the morning visiting classrooms and meeting the 5th-Grade teachers. Students also asked many questions about what they can expect and anticipate for next year as middle school students.
The highlight of their visit to Syracuse Academy of Science middle school was seeing the Spanish classroom and, of course, the Cafeteria!
Friday, June 3rd, 2022—Syracuse Academy of Science high school hosts its annual Students vs. Staff soccer match each year. This friendly (yet competitive) game has been a favorite among the students and the staff. Year after year, the staff have always proved to be victorious. Will this year follow the same trend? Let's find out!
Leading up to the last week of school, Atoms and the Syracuse Academy of Science high school staff headed to the Syracuse Indoor Sports Center for their time-honored tradition of the Students vs. Staff soccer match. To prepare for this annual competition, the staff had to call on a bit of reinforcement (aka Atoms alumni) to keep their winning streak alive. After weeks of practice, warm-up drills, and stretching, the staff once again proved to be victorious amongst the students with a final score of 11-9.
We want to thank Mr. Bility for organizing this year's Students vs. Staff Soccer Match; Mr. Tabbara, Mr. Usher, and Mr. Cummings were the game's MVPs. All your hard work certainly has not gone unnoticed; thank you! We also want to give a quick shout-out to everyone who was able to show their support during this time-honored Syracuse Academy of Science high school tradition. We wish the Atoms the best of luck next year!
Friday, June 17th, 2022—In June, Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school hosted its annual Danishes for Distinguished Men event to celebrate dads and father figures on Father's Day. Atoms created cards, pictures, and art projects to share with their loved ones to celebrate. In addition, families enjoyed delectable danishes as they spent time with their student(s). We want to thank everyone who helped make this event possible and for all the distinguished men in the Atoms' lives.
