SAS ES Atoms Make Their Family Trees

SAS ES Students Make 1st Family Project

Monday, October 24th, 2022: “Family trees need strong branches and deep roots.” As part of our efforts to increase Culturally Responsive Teaching, Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary School will encourage families to participate in various Family Projects during the school year. Students and families were tasked with creating a Family Tree together in October. Where we come from and who encompasses our families are an important part of who we are, and a family tree project allows students to show off their backgrounds. These are just a small sample of some of the beautiful and thought-out family trees that came into school.

Thank you to all the parents, guardians, and family members that helped our scholars make this first Family Project a great success!

Please visit our Facebook page to see more of the beautiful creations.

SASCS Lucky Ducks Learn about Ecosystems at Webster's Duck Pond

SAS ES Atom's Field Trip to Webster's Duck Pond

Friday, October 14th, 2022: Let's get rid of these Monday afternoon blues by remembering a fun Friday morning! Syracuse Academy of Science 4th graders took a walk on a sunny, cool morning to Webster's Duck Pond.

Atoms were able to feed ducks and take in the beautiful scenery. Students learned about the geography that makes up the pond and its importance for the ecosystems surrounding the duck pond. Students also observed different species of ducks and learned how these birds would not migrate due to the pond not entirely freezing over, which allows the birds to stay.

These lucky ducks had a blast enjoying some exercise and seeing nature outside the classroom!
