Focused on STEM and Environment

SASCS places a strong emphasis on preparing students to understand, appreciate, and shape the world around them through hands-on STEM learning and environmental awareness. This approach reflects a belief that students learn best when they are actively engaged, solving problems, collaborating with peers, and applying their knowledge to real-world challenges that matter.

At all K–12 levels, SASCS promotes real-world problem solving and exploration in science and mathematics. Students regularly participate in interactive learning, collaborative projects, and field trips to environmentally focused sites and science museums. Technology is integrated into daily learning, with access to computer labs, smartboards, iPads, one-to-one Chromebooks, and educational apps that support inquiry-based learning.

Students engage in STEAM coursework from Kindergarten through 8th grade. This includes structured learning in the arts, mathematics, and science, along with coding instruction that begins as early as kindergarten. Enrichment opportunities expand student learning through robotics and engineering programs that encourage creativity, design thinking, and innovation.

SASCS students take part in local, state, and national competitions such as the CNY Bridge Building Challenge, Catapult Challenge, Central New York Science Fair, Robotics competitions, and the Innovation Challenge. These experiences build confidence, technical skill, and teamwork.

In grades 5–12, one-to-one Chromebook access paired with Google Workspace tools allows students to collaborate, complete coursework, conduct research, and develop the digital literacy skills they will need in higher education and the modern workforce.
