Friday, October 18th, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science High School students had the unique opportunity to visit Waygate Technologies, a global leader in non-destructive testing solutions. This hands-on experience gave them a behind-the-scenes look at the groundbreaking technologies shaping industries worldwide. The students explored cutting-edge advancements, such as safer X-ray technology and high-definition remote visual inspections. These innovations are revolutionizing industries, from aerospace to automotive, by enabling the detection of flaws without damaging the inspected material. The students also had the chance to tour Waygate's manufacturing plant, where they saw these technologies in action and gained valuable insights into how products are created and tested.
At SAS, we believe in the power of hands-on learning to provide students with real-world experience and exposure to industries they may one day work in. In a college prep school environment, it’s essential for students to not only learn the theoretical aspects of their studies but also to engage with the material practically. Field trips like this one allow students to connect what they learn in the classroom to the world outside, making education more relevant and exciting. Hands-on experiences also help build critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills essential for success in higher education and future careers. By engaging with professionals in the field and experiencing the workplace firsthand, students gain confidence and a deeper understanding of how their studies apply to real-world challenges.
A huge thank you to Waygate Technologies for offering our students an unforgettable learning experience. Their commitment to innovation and education provided invaluable insights into the world of non-destructive testing and gave our students a glimpse of the future.
