Atoms Place 2nd At FTC NY Excelsior Remote Qualifier

The Syracuse Academy of Science high school Robotics team competed and took home 2nd place in the FTC NY Excelsior Remote Qualifier Event held on February 18th.

In February, the Syracuse Academy of Science high school robotics team attended the FTC NY Excelsior Remote Qualifier event and took home 2nd place! Congratulations to the following students: Yakina Sika Amoah, Migual Mathis, Andre McClain, Jenell Virgilio, Eva Acheampong, Adriana Crowder, Arna Boatema Amoah, and Z Harper.

Jviona Baker Receives the Triple ‘C’ Award

Syracuse Academy of Science high school student, Jviona Baker, received the Triple ‘C’ Award in recognition for her courage, commitment and character. The Triple ‘C’ Award is presented by the New York State Attorney General, Letitia James.

For over 20 years, New York State has celebrated young adults with its Triple 'C' Award, recognizing students for their courage, commitment, and character. The courage that will assist them in meeting the challenges ahead. Their remarkable commitment to bettering themselves, their school, and their community make them role models to others. Their strength of character helps them to achieve their goals and will guide them in making the right decision in the future.

High School Atoms Keep Calm and Save the Planet

Syracuse Academy of Science high school congressional awards students volunteered their time to help in a local Earth Day Street Cleaning project.

Saturday, April 23rd, 2022Syracuse Academy of Science high school, Congressional Awards students were a 'force of nature' last weekend, as they lent a helping hand with an Earth Day clean-up activity. For their Earth Day activity, Atoms participated in a local street cleaning project. In true Atoms fashion, they left their area looking better than the way they found it.

Atoms Artwork Displayed at Beaver Lake Nature Center

In collaboration with Region 3 of the New York State Art Teachers Association, eight students at Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school had their artwork selected to display at Onondaga County Parks’ Beaver Lake Nature Center.

Tuesday, April 19th, 2022Congratulations to the eight students at Syracuse Academy of Science elementary school whose artwork was selected to display at the Beaver Lake Nature Center. In collaboration with Region 3 of the New York State Art Teachers Association, students created artwork that fit the themes of nature, animals, and landscape. The Beaver Lake Nature Center will proudly display the students' artwork through the end of April. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to come out and view the artwork of our talented Atoms.

Hoop there it is! Staff Vs. Atoms Basketball Game

As a reward for the most Classdojo points, Syracuse Academy of Science middle school students in 6A took on the SAS MS staff in a Staff vs. Students basketball game.

Friday, April 8th, 2022One spirit. One team. One win. As the Syracuse Academy of Science middle school Atoms in 6A prepared to take the basketball court for the game of the season, the whole school anxiously awaited in the stands to see who would be victorious in the classic Students VS. Staff basketball game.

As a reward for the most Classdojo points, the Atoms played the Syracuse Academy of Science middle school staff in a friendly competition of basketball. To help ensure that everyone was abiding by the rules, Syracuse Academy of Science high school seniors Aziatic Mann, Steve Tussing, and Zach Allen were the official referees for the game.

While the Atoms played their hearts out, the Staff certainly had the upper hand and proved to be victorious.

We want to thank everyone who helped make this event possible. Everyone had a great time, and this game will undoubtedly go down in the Syracuse Academy of Science history books. Keep up the great work, Atoms!
