Thursday, April 27th, 2023: Syracuse Academy of Science High School held the annual Dean’s List Dinner. Family, friends, and loved one’s came to celebrate their Atom’s incredible accomplishments. 7 through 12th-grade scholars on the Dean’s List were invited to enjoy a meal in the high school gym with their families and teachers before a formal award ceremony.
We are so proud of all their hard work and dedication this year. We can’t wait to see how our students will continue to give to the SANY motto of building success one Atom at a time. Thank you for supporting and encouraging your student along the way!

Friday, April 28th, 2023: R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Find out what it means to me!
Believe it or not, April is almost over, but we’re throwing it back to Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary Schools March Character Trait of the Month. Atoms found out that Respect means admiring or looking up to someone because that person has done something extraordinary or possesses impressive abilities. Respect is also an act of giving attention or showing you care.
Students of the Month were celebrated for exhibiting respectful behavior. Congratulations to our March Students of the Month!

Thursday, April 27th, 2023: Syracuse Academy of Science 4th-grade students were paid a special visit by Assemblywoman Pamela Hunter's office representative Matt Jones. Mr. Jones presented a medal to Destinee, whose work is displayed at the New York State Art Teachers Association 34th Annual Legislative Show. Mr. Jones also told students about Assemblywoman Hunter's job and why she ran for office.
Congratulations, Destinee, and thank you, Mr. Jones, for coming to our school!

Tuesday, April 11th, 2023: Shari Merten, the Learning and Engagement Coordinator from the Everson Museum of Art, visited Syracuse Academy of Science Kindergarteners. Shari shared a picture of the museum with students and told them about what a museum is, what kinds of things you can find there, and who works there. Shari also read the book "A Perfectly Messed Up Story" by Patrick McDonnell, which teaches the students that it's ok to make a mess and make mistakes.
Thank you to Shari and the Everson Museum for sharing your museum with our students!
The Everson Museum of Art is open Wednesday through Sunday, starting at 11 am. Check it out!

Monday, April 24th, 2023: Syracuse Academy of Science high school celebrated our hardworking and deserving science fair winners! Students were rewarded with a pizza party in the conference room before a short award ceremony. Students in grades 8th through 11th were awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place based on their preparation (research paper, writing journal, and background research study.) Each grade was also given student choice awards, which their peers analyzed.
Congratulations to all the science fair winners! You make us proud!!

Thursday, April 13th, 2023: Syracuse Academy of Science second-grade students spent the day touring and learning about the SUNY Oswego campus. They saw a residence hall and took a trip to the theater, where they did a color-sorting activity learning about how the cones in your eyes absorb colors. Students also saw the miniature Zamboni named "Mini" and watched it shoot out a t-shirt. They had to estimate the distance it traveled and then measure it (17 meters in case anyone was wondering!) This tour was organized and run by the Education Department at SUNY Oswego, where future teachers could plan their daily activities.
It was a wonderful experience for our young Atoms. Not many 2nd graders can say they’ve toured a college before!

Monday, March 6th, 2023: Black History Month may be officially over, but we’re still highlighting a project Syracuse Academy of Science 5th graders worked hard on! ELA students read books and researched change makers to learn more about their impact on our community. They finished the project by overcoming public speaking fears to present to their classmates and a few community members!

Tuesday, March 28th, 2023: Mr. Stowe took Syracuse Academy of Science students to visit D'Youville and Daemen Universities in Buffalo, NY. It was an excellent opportunity for seniors to experience campus life. For the Juniors, it was an eye-opening experience, and some ended up adding an unexpected school to their application list. All got treated to a delicious lunch at D'Youville and saw Daemen's student residence hall. Sadly, Mr. Stowe couldn't get the students to try Tim Hortons. He was informed that most college campuses have Starbucks, which would be more authentic to the experience. See, even Mr. Stowe learned something!

Saturday, April 1st, 2023: Syracuse Academy of Science High School students attended the Central New York Science And Engineering Fair. Atoms won several national and international awards and will represent our state at the Science Congress this year. Syracuse Academy of Science and Science Department Chair Dr. Ay were awarded the Peter Plumley Engaged Participation Award for the school whose students submitted the highest number of high-quality science fair projects in any division. All participants received a one-year membership to the MOST.
