Dear Parent/Guardian,
We express our heartfelt compassion to those who have lost loved ones in recent nationwide school tragedies. In light of recent safety concerns in schools, we want to assure your child’s safety in our schools and to inform you of the mechanisms we have in place, and measures that we take, to ensure a positive and safe learning environment.
Since our schools opened, in 2003, safety has always been our leading priority. Having a small school environment, in which students wear uniforms, allows staff to easily recognize and greet students by name. Also, in each of our buildings, there is only one designated main entrance, and all other exterior doors are locked from the outside (but can be opened from the inside in the unlikely event of a fire or other emergency) and connected to an alarm system that notifies security personnel and administrators if any door is opened. We also maintain active camera surveillance both internally and externally. In addition, each building has a designated security guard to monitor the building and grounds. We require all visitors to sign in and be escorted to and from destinations within the building.
On the morning of Monday, February 26th, a video posted on social media was brought to our attention, which, although it did not contain a specific threat against the school or any SASCS personnel or student, it contained unsettling content. After reviewing the video, we notified local law enforcement of its existence and they immediately investigated the matter and took immediate preventive action to assure the safety of the school, its personnel and students. At no time were our students or staff in any danger or exposed to anything creating a concern.
We continue to enforce our safety protocols in all of our buildings and appreciate your continued partnership and entrusting us with your children. Our dedication to families and school safety allows us to provide a positive, safe learning environment for all students and staff.
