Thursday, April 23rd, 2026: To conclude our Earth Week Speaker Series, Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary School welcomed Lisa Piering from OCRRA for an engaging and educational presentation.
Students participated in a hands-on activity where they examined everyday items and determined whether they could be recycled. The interactive lesson sparked curiosity and discussion, revealing that some commonly assumed recyclable items—such as egg cartons—may no longer be recyclable because the materials have already been processed multiple times.
This eye-opening experience helped students better understand the importance of proper recycling practices and encouraged them to think more critically about how they can care for the environment.
Thank you, OCRRA, for helping our students become more informed and environmentally responsible citizens!
