Honoring Our Heroes: SAS ES Celebrates Veterans Day
Monday, November 11th, 2024: This Veteran’s Day, Mrs. Bloss’ second-grade Syracuse Academy of Science Atoms created something truly special to honor those who serve: heartfelt letters to Veterans in our community and active military personnel overseas. Each letter was a token of gratitude, filled with kind words, drawings, and appreciation for their sacrifices and service.
Adding to the significance of the day, the class welcomed a very special guest: Mr. Josh, a Veteran who served 18 months in Iraq. During his time in the Army, Mr. Josh earned two Purple Hearts for his courage and dedication. He shared stories of his experiences, giving our scholars a deeper understanding of the bravery and sacrifices made by our service members.
Mr. Josh’s visit was a powerful moment for the students, inspiring them with his resilience and commitment to protecting others. His stories educated and left a lasting impression on the importance of honoring and respecting those who have served.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Josh for his service and for teaching our young scholars the true meaning of bravery and sacrifice. Your visit made this Veteran’s Day unforgettable for our students and staff alike.
Thank you, Veterans, for all you do!
