National Grid Sparks Innovation with SAS MS STEAM Club
Saturday, February 1st, 2025: The Syracuse Academy of Science Middle School STEAM Club embarked on an electrifying journey into energy and innovation with National Grid. This hands-on experience allowed our SAS Atoms to explore career pathways in the energy sector while diving into exciting STEM activities.
National Grid professionals introduced students to the fascinating field of electrical engineering, sharing insights on power distribution, sustainability, and the critical role of energy in our daily lives. Students had the unique chance to get up close with bucket truck equipment, learning about the tools and technology that keep our communities powered.
One of the highlights of the day was the hands-on circuit-building activity. Using circuit kits, students constructed simple and parallel circuits, gaining a deeper understanding of electrical flow and the principles of conductivity. These interactive exercises reinforced classroom learning and inspired students to think creatively about real-world applications of science and technology.
STEAM education thrives on experiential learning, and this event was a perfect example of how industry partnerships can spark curiosity and innovation. Thank you to National Grid for their time, expertise, and commitment to shaping the next generation of engineers and problem solvers!
