SAS 2nd Graders Celebrate Diwali

Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary Atoms Learn About Diwali

Friday, November 1st, 2024: Syracuse Academy of Science second graders explored Diwali while learning about Ancient Asian civilizations in their Knowledge block. Atoms discovered Diwali is the Festival of Lights in Hindu tradition, symbolizing joy and positivity.

To deepen their understanding, students created paper lanterns, filled in maps of India, and decorated vibrant Rangoli art. The Rangoli, symbolizing happiness and warmth, is made to welcome Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and good luck.

This is a wonderful example of how hands-on learning brings history and culture to life!
