SAS ES Steps off into Parade Day

Tuesday, November 26th, 2024: Before Thanksgiving Break, Syracuse Academy of Science Elementary students embarked on an exciting literary and artistic journey inspired by the beloved book Balloons Over Broadway. This captivating story delves into the history and magic of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, sparking curiosity and creativity among our young learners.

Learning through literature, the students explored the story’s themes of innovation, perseverance, and imagination while learning about the iconic parade balloons that have become a cherished Thanksgiving tradition. The book provided an engaging way to combine reading comprehension with hands-on activities, encouraging students to think critically and creatively.

The excitement culminated in the SAS ES Day Parade, where students proudly showcased their own balloon creations. These imaginative designs reflected their unique interpretations of what makes the Macy’s Parade so magical.
