Saturday, May 2nd, 2026: Syracuse Academy of Science High School participated in the Invention Convention in Albany for the first time. Although the team was not selected as Gold winners to advance to the Henry Ford National Competition, the experience provided valuable learning opportunities and meaningful insight into the innovation process.
Students presented their project, a low-cost galvanostat for water splitting, which showcased creativity, scientific thinking, and real-world problem-solving skills. Throughout the competition, students gained hands-on experience in presenting their ideas and learned the importance of areas such as marketing, budgeting, and effective communication when developing innovative solutions.
Most importantly, the event highlighted the power of invention-based learning at SAS. By engaging in authentic, project-based experiences, students were able to think critically, collaborate, and apply their knowledge to real-world challenges.
SAS High School is proud of the students’ hard work, dedication, and professionalism throughout the competition and looks forward to building on this experience in future years.
