SAS continues torrid scoring with 89-71 win over Auburn

On Friday, January 20, 2017, the SAS boys basketball team was featured on Syracuse.com "The Syracuse Academy of Science boys basketball team has been on a lethal scoring binge this month and that trend continued on Friday with a 89-71 victory against Auburn."

SAS girls basketball team player "surpassed 1,000 career points". 

On Wednesday, January 18, 2017 SAS womens basketball team player Lyrik was featured again on Syracuse.com. "The junior surpassed 1,000 career points in the Atoms' 69-49 home victory over Tully on Wednesday night, notching another triple-double in the effort. Jackson entered the contest with 977 points and now stands at 1,004 after her 27-point, 15-rebound, 12-steal masterpiece against the Black Knights."

Middle School holds 2nd Marking Period Award Ceremony

On Friday, January 20th, 2017 the SAS Middle School held its 2nd Quarter Award Ceremony. This is a special event in that staff and students get to celebrate a wide range of accomplishments. Awards including Best Academic, Best Citizen, Student of the Month, and Most Improved were given to deserving students. In addition, the many great students who achieved Honor and High Honor Roll were also recognized. The event was highlighted by a performance by the Middle School Step Team. Events such as this are a celebration of the many accomplishments of our students as they work to accentuate all that SAS stands for!

SAS Lady Atoms Modified Team started the season with WIN

On Thursday, January 19th, 2017, SAS Lady Atoms Modified Team played against Southside Academy today on January 19th, 2017. This is the first game of the season and Atoms started strong. Final score is 43-15. Congratulations #SASAtoms. Keep up the good work.

7th Graders adventure through the 5 Wits Universe

On Tuesday, January 17th, 2017 the 7th grade students of the SAS Middle School went on a field trip to 5 Wits in Destiny USA. Students participated in three of the team building adventures the store had to offer. The Drago's Castle was navigated with some magical help from a fairy princess. The evil Cabal was defeated in the Espionage Adventure. The 7th graders confronted the evil Pharaoh in the Tomb Adventure. Students even explored the perils of Deep Space!  The trip was capped with some lunch in the food court with friends and teachers!

January Olweus Anti-Bullying Meeting at the Middle School

On Tuesday, January 11th, 2017 the SAS Middle School held its monthly Olweus Anti-Bullying Meeting. The focus of this meeting was to draw important attention to how spreading rumors and gossip effect fellow students as well as our school. Students talked about what gossip is and how it makes it way around a school. Center to the meeting was a detailed fable to accentuated the damage that can be done by spreading rumors. These meetings are a part of our continual effort to bring bullying out of the shadows in order to promote a safe, comfortable environment for all of our students.

SAS Elementary Winter Concert and Art Show

On Thursday, January 12th, 2017, students in Kindergarten through fourth grade held their winter concert and art show. Each grade performed a number of songs they had been working on in music class. Most of the songs had a winter theme, while others taught about positive behaviors and relationships. Students also had their artwork displayed for everyone to admire. Everyone did a wonderful job! Thanks for the strong community support.
