Syracuse Academy of Science senior Amari Williams was accepted to Cornell University. He applied to 14 colleges in his search. Cornell was his first choice.
During his time at SAS Amari participated in the drama crew and was part of the Science Olympiad instructed by Dr. Ay.

Last year Amari was accepted into the Summer Science Immersion Program at SUNY Oswego. The program is held in July and provides students an opportunity to assist undergraduate or graduate students with their research projects. With his research he participated in the Central New York Science and Engineering fair where he won an honor medal. He and his partner were invited to Syracuse University for a research talk.
Amari achieved all of this by staying focused during his studies. His advice to his fellow students is to "try to keep doing better than before. ... It’s important to fix mistakes and overcome hurdles.”
Amari would like to thank Mrs.Brand, Dr. Kocak, Dr. Hayali, Mr. Bak and all the supportive teachers. Throughout his studies, all his teachers have been helpful, especially Mrs. Kubat, whom Amari says was a big help in the process, and Ms. McGinnis, whose AP literature class prepared him to write his college entrance essay.
Amari will major in Industrial Labor Relations with a focus in Business and Finance in the fall. Good luck, Amari!
