On Wednesday, May 30, 2018, #SASAtoms and their families enjoyed a Luau themed Reading Night. Activities included: writing sight words in sand, Palm Tree letter sounds, reading by the pool, a board game, crafts, and a fun photo booth. Students enjoyed completing a scavenger hunt. Parents were able to learn about the importance of reading over the summer as well. Did you know your child can lose 22% (approx. 2 levels) of their reading level if they don't read over the summer?! So don't forget to visit your public library this summer! Go Atoms! #SASAtoms #SASCS

On Thursday, May 31, 2018, #SASCS students who maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher over the course of the marking period were honored at the end of year Dean's List Dinner. The #SASCS Dean, Jeanine Brand, handed out the honors and #SASAtoms and their families celebrated with dinner. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to celebrating even more students next year. Go Atoms! #SASAtoms #SASCS

On Wednesday, June 30, 2018, our #SASAtoms participated in a visit to Syracuse University. This trip is part of our early awareness activity available to all eighth-grade #SASCS scholars. Students are exposed to different types of educational institutions and can ask questions of college students and faculty. By taking advantage of this opportunity, students learn the benefit of successfully preparing for post-secondary education. Go Atoms! #SASCS #SASAtoms

On Thursday, May 31, 2018, Lyrik Jackson and Diamonne Harris were named members of the 2018 all-state teams by the New York State Sportswriters Association. Congratulations to our Lady Atoms! #SASCS @SASAtoms

On Tuesday, May 29, 2018 #SASCS third-graders went to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. Students interacted with the new animatronic dinosaurs, excavated fossils and identified dinosaurs within the Zoo's new interactive activity. #SASAtoms also toured different animal exhibits to observe how the animals interacted with their habitats. This field trip was an extension activity to our plants and animals unit they have been studying in science class. Our third-graders will take what they learned at the zoo and develop a research project in which they will learn all about a specific animal of their choice as a final project for ELA. This trip is just one-way #SASCS supports Hands-on, Minds-on learning. Go Atoms! #SASCS #SASAtoms

On Thursday, May 24, 2018, the #SASCS Middle School held its April Student of the Month ceremony. Students were awarded certificates for their hard work in their core classes as well as special presentations for specials. We recognized and awarded students who have the best coping skills in the face of adversity. This ceremony is a great time for students and faculty alike as we get the opportunity to recognize the amazing efforts of our Atoms. #SASAtoms #SASCS

On Friday, May 18, 2018, #SASCS Middle School students were invited to attend the last Teen Center Night event of the school year. #SASAtoms played basketball, watched a movie, played video games and sang and danced to karaoke. Pizza and drinks were included in the night as well. Students had a blast! We are proud to give students the time to be not only well-rounded students but also time to celebrate the end of the year with their friends. Go Atoms! #SASAtoms #SASCS
