
On Thursday, June 14, 2018, the #SASCS Middle School was proud to host NASA Astronaut Dr. Don Thomas with the help of WonderWorks. Dr. Thomas was one of our nation's astronauts and has made several trips to space. He spoke to our students about his experiences in both traveling and working in space. Additionally, he highlighted the dedication and commitment that is required to reach our goals. We were very happy to have him speak to our students to keep their "eyes on the stars"! #SASAtoms #SASCS

On Thursday, June 14, 2018, the #SASCS Middle School held its 2nd annual Donuts for Dad event. The goal of this event is to celebrate the amazing contributions of the fathers and strong role models of our students. Families enjoyed donuts and drinks as well as the amazing company. On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, select elementary #SASAtoms presented their original poems to all elementary students, teachers, and families at the 2018 Poetry Slam. Students focused on different types of figurative language and poetry including; simile, alliteration, and haikus. Our Atoms works contained unique and thoughtful imagery. Go Atoms! #SASAtoms #SASCS

On Tuesday, June 5th, 2018, the Partners for Education & Business, an affiliate of MACNY, announced their student of the year awards. MACNY, The Manufacturers Association is a not-for-profit association representing over 300 businesses and organizations across Central and Upstate New York. Melissa Ocejo, a tenth-grader, at #SASCS was honored with this award for her hard work and outstanding achievements. Go Atoms! #SASCS #SASAtoms

The #SASCS Class of 2018 is proud to announce three Congressional Award Winners. Luis Gonzalez-Pena, Carmen Russo, and Steven Pham. All three were awarded the Bronze Certificate, and Carmen also received the Silver Certificate Honors. On Friday, June 1, 2018, five of our graduating #SASCS seniors were awarded by Senator DeFrancisco's Youth Leadership program. The program is designed to highlight and celebrate well-rounded students who excel academically and have exhibited leadership through extracurricular or volunteer activities. Students must be nominated by a teacher, administrator, counselor or other school faculty member. Go Atoms! #SASCS #SASAtoms

On Wednesday, June 6, 2018, #SASCS elementary classes enjoyed a break from the classroom at the Get Air Syracuse Trampoline Park. Students jumped on the trampolines, navigated obstacle courses, and dribbled their way to basketball fame. #SASAtoms who demonstrated excellent behavior in the classroom and PE were awarded this field trip. As summer approaches these trips remind our students to get outside and play! Go Atoms! #SASCS #SASAtoms
