Friday, June 7, 2019—Atoms are on a roll, the Honor Roll that is. It's time to give a round of applause and kudos to all our Atoms for their hard work this school year. A time-honored tradition, the middle school Dean's List Dinner, recognizes students for their academic success. Atoms who maintained a 90% or higher average for the first three quarters were invited to celebrate this moment with their friends and family. We are so proud of their accomplishments and look forward to a much larger group of Honor Roll students next year.
Wednesday, June 12, 2019—Animals in action are so much fun … especially when you have hands-on experience with a beautiful Painted Lady Butterfly. Atoms witnessed the stages of their soon to be butterfly. From an oh so tiny caterpillar, to watching it form a cocoon in the chrysalides stage, to emerging into a Painted Lady butterfly two weeks later, to finally entering metamorphosis. This is an experience that they will never forget. Atoms safely released their new friend into the wild on a beautiful sunny day.
Friday, May 17, 2019—Students from ten counties in Central New York competed in Destiny USA's Wonderworks WonderKid program. Nominated by their teachers, this program highlights the student achievement in categories such as: Academic Excellence, Service to Community and Future Scientist. 7th grade Atom, Maria, was named the 2019 WonderKid recipient in the category of Academic Excellence. In this category, the student not only displays excellence in academia, but exceeds expectations of their teachers and peers and realizes the importance of educational rigor in their future. Recipients also had the opportunity to meet their keynote speaker and award presenter, former NASA Astronaut, Dr. Don Thomas.

Atoms enjoyed an afternoon field trip to Betts Branch Library, one of eight branch libraries of the Onondaga County Public Library system. Students were able to make their own bookmarks, enjoyed listening to a story read by an astronaut, and browsed books with librarian Quinn!
Thursday, May 30, 2019—It's not everyday that you get to spend the afternoon in the "Central Park of Central New York," otherwise known as Onondaga Lake Park. Our kindergarten class celebrated a successful year of hard work by spending time with their friends catching some fresh air and experiencing all that Wegmans Playground has to offer.
Friday, May 17, 2019—As part of project based learning, these industry titans (or should we say Atoms) team up to create a detailed business plan on how they would run the school store. From inventory management, to cost per unit to marketing and promotion these budding entrepreneurs have their eye on the prize … running the store in middle school. Upon completion of the business plan, teams presented their ideas to a panel of esteemed judges. Great job Atoms!
Friday, June 7, 2019—Atoms rolled up their sleeves, put on gloves, grabbed some tongs and started picking up litter in our community, while en route to their field trip at Webster Duck Pond. A hidden gem in Syracuse, students enjoyed feeding the ducks and taking in the beautiful scenery. To reward Atoms for such positive behavior and good citizenship, they walked to Arctic Island for some delicious desserts. Great job Atoms on making a positive impact on our community.
Thursday, May 30, 2019—Visiting colleges and universities is a key element in our college-bound environment. Each spring, Atoms embark on a college tour circuit visiting colleges and universities in the area. Wrapping up this year's college tour, Atoms visited Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Students received a tour of the campus and learned about the academic and educational resources available, as well as, various campus life programs.
Thursday, June 13, 2019—Atoms are poets and they didn't even know it! Stepping outside their comfort zone, these young poets stepped up to the microphone and presented their creative writing to not only their teachers but their parents, and peers, as well. Poems included styles such as haikus, cinquains, acrostic poems and many different uses of figurative language. Great job Atoms!
