Wednesday, May 15, 2019—Cuisine is an important aspect of any country's culture. It plays an integral role in centering traditions, heritage, memories and more. As part of our fifth grade Atom's project based learning class, they had the opportunity to research Mexico and learn about its culture and cuisine. Scholars created a cookbook and presentation with the region's facts and shared their findings with an esteemed panel. Atoms will have the opportunity to prepare delicious dishes based on the recipes in their cookbook.
Friday, April 26, 2019—LIGHTS. CAMERA. ATOMS! Rising elementary superstars showcased their artistic flair at their Syracuse Academy of Science Charter school talent show. Performances ranged from dancing, instrumental, magic and more. Scholars devised their own acts, auditioned, and practiced for months before performing in front of family, friends and their peers. Bravo Atoms!
Friday, April 26, 2019—It's time to celebrate achieving Atoms! Scholars were recognized and awarded for academic excellence, good citizenship, golden atom excellence, most improved academic achievement and students of the month. Keep up the great work Atoms!
Friday, May 24, 2019—As we get ready to complete another successful year, we start to reminisce about events, memories, highlights that took place. In preparation for graduation in four short weeks, we are taking a walk down memory lane and sharing with you senior videos from the previous graduating classes. Wednesday, May 8, 2019—Three, two, one … blast off! Syracuse Academy of Science Charter Elementary school visited the Ithaca Sciencenter for a hands-on learning experience. From making music, to pendulum controlled magnets, to moving a swing with a giant lever Atoms were able to make connections to their science state test preparation. And what science field trip isn't complete without seeing sea creatures up close … and touching a scaly snake!
Friday, May 17, 2019—Prom, an evening our Juniors and Seniors look forward to year-after-year. A night filled with dancing, laughter, merriment, gorgeous gowns and ultimately memories for a lifetime. This year's prom theme was 'A Night Under the Stars,' and was held at The Links at Erie Village. Congratulations to Jessiah and Beloved for being named Prom Prince and Princess. Friday, May 3, 2019—Pampering and relaxation are just what the Syracuse Academy of Science Charter middle school ordered. Atoms who received 110 merits had the choice between a spa day, where scholars were pampered, or a free gym period, where they could participate in a variety of games and activities. Keep up the great work Atoms!
Friday, May 10, 2019—'Super Mom' comes in many forms. From mothers to grandmothers to female figures in our Atom's lives. Muffins with Mom is a time honored tradition at Syracuse Academy of Science Charter elementary school to celebrate and thank these role models for all that they do. The scholars created special gifts to give to the 'queen of their heart', decorated the classroom and enjoyed an afternoon filled with quality time, and of course muffins.
Friday, May 3, 2019—The whole family jumped in to celebrate our diverse student body. Students explored their differences and similarities while eating delicious food from 32 unique cultures. Thank you, Samba Laranja, The Syracuse University Brazilian Ensemble, the Wacheva African Drumming, the #SASCS Dance team, and of course our #SASCS singers for your wonderful performances. Go Atoms!
